Enquiry & Discovery Learning Pathway

Learners will follow an adapted National Curriculum. The curriculum aims to develop learners’ communication skills using a range of AAC methods. Learners acquire early literacy and numeracy skills. Our Enquiry Learning Pathway facilitates increased independence, and developing life relevant skills.

Subjects

Learners on the Enquiry Pathway are ready for subject-specific learning. They will access these subjects in small groups with other learners who are of a similar ability to one another. The subjects that they will study are:

  • RE
  • Art and Design
  • Music
  • Physical Education (PE)
  • Computing
  • MFL (at key stage 2)
  • PSHE & RSE

Learners will generalise all learnt skills in a range of situations. We support our learners to develop a level of independence by teaching them the important life skills they need to manage in the classroom, at home and when out in their community.  We allow learners to acquire skills for life we tailor our curriculum to ensure they are learning useful skills.

Our Maths, English and Phonics curriculum are adapted to cater to the needs of the children and engage them through topics and activities they will enjoy.  Where possible we enrich the curriculum by exposing the children to life experience in school and out in the community.
